Dr. Neil Szeryk
Clinic Owner
Chiropractic care has always played an important role in Dr. Neil Szeryk’s life. Throughout his life, Neil has always excelled at everything he has put his mind to… academics and athletics included. At an early age Neil was surpassing boys two years older than himself to play competitive sports. At age 17, he was selected to represent Canada on the National Baseball team to compete in Australia for the World Championship. It was on this world stage that Neil was named to the All-World team for the championship. He was offered several baseball scholarships and chose Oklahoma State University because of its nationally respected programs. His first year at OSU, Neil had a stellar year, academically and on the athletic field, competing in the National Baseball finals. During the summer he again competed globally in the Goodwill Games and World Championship.
Upon returning to school in the fall, Neil was prepared to lead the charge in OSU’s quest for a National Championship title. That is, until he was suddenly struck with a rare form of Guillian Barre Syndrome. This disease affects the central nervous system, leaving its victims paralyzed from the chest down. The severity of the illness is random and requires tremendous strength and determination to overcome. The doctor’s told Neil that he would never play baseball again. Neil took this as a challenge and refused to throw in the towel. Through incredibly long hours of hard work and the support from his family, Neil was not only able to gain full control of his health, but was able to compete on a National level again, receiving the Athlete of the Year Award from Wright State University.
The experience taught Neil a lot about himself and his health. During the entire recovery process, Chiropractic played a significant role in his physical therapy. While growing up, Neil’s family had always gone to a Chiropractor and supported the drug-free, non-invasive approach to health care, but the impact his Chiropractor had on during his difficult time, convinced him that he too, could make a difference. Neil graduated from Parker College and opened The Chiropractic Connection to treat the residents of Allen and surrounding areas.
